In-Class Population Assignment

1) a) Around the world, there is a birth rate of 18.2 and a death rate of 7.7. The numbers show a very strong difference which reflects the populations growth. It means there is over twice the amount of people being born as ones who are dying.
b) Brazil has a net migration rate of -0.1. This is because of the population is poor and sick, and are trying to get out of poverty. This number also takes into account the number of people who are arriving for tourism, which still isn't enough to get the number above 0.
c) There are many different racial groups living in America such as white (72.4%), black (12.6%), and Asian (4.8%). There are many others, and it shows the diversity in America and why it is called the Melting Pot. This shows the amount of immigrants that must have come in to make the numbers so high compared to other countries.
d) China has a population of 1,384,688,986 (in 2018). This is because of the poor population, and the already large population to start out with. Because they are poor they cannot afford contraception, and have more kids.
e) In Nigeria, only 59.6% of people can read. This is in part mostly to the amount of poverty there. There is hardly much of a source for clean water, so progress is slow in making changes or improvements. Also, there just isn't money available to send all of the kids to school.

2) a) In Bermuda, there is a declining population because there are more people living in their post-reproductive years.
b) In El Salvador, there is a slowly rising population because of the spike of people living in their reproductive years.
c) In India, there is a fast growing population because of the number of people in their pre-reproductive years, which makes the pyramid look like a triangle.
d) Central African Republic also has a fast increase in population because of its sharp pyramid shape.
e) Greese has a declining population because there are more people past reproductive years.
